Yesterday I wrote an article about Amazon’s “Subscribe and Save” program. You enroll for free, select from discounted products, and not only does Amazon knock off an additional 5% they deliver them to your home for free. When a deal is this good many people will often ask “What’s the catch?” It is for this reason that I have decided to take a closer look at the prices of the item offered on Amazon and compare them to their competitors. I will select a variety of products covering several demographics.
- Pampers Swaddlers Size 3 174 Count – Amazon “Subscribe and Save” price: $ 44.81 Diapers.com price $47.09 – Winner Amazon
- Lever 2000 24 count Bar soap - Amazon “Subscribe and Save” price: $16.14 Drugstore.com price $9.49 for 8 or $28.47 for 24- Winner Amazon
- Gillette Fusion Proglide Razors 8 Pack - Amazon “Subscribe and Save” price: $27.54 Soap.com price $27.55 – Tie
- Kashi Golean Crunch!Cereal 3 Pack 21.3 oz boxes – Amazon “Subscribe and Save” price: $16.23 ThebetterhaelthStore.com price $26.97 Winner Amazon
As you can see in almost each case Amazon is the clear value winner. I can’t imagine a local supermarket being able to even touch these prices. The closer I look at this offer the more I like it. I may never order another non-perishable item from a supermarket again. Something worth considering.
